More progress.

I threw out a few ideas for the quick critique today and almost everyone said they like the tv idea, with changing backgrounds. I had put random places in the background and everyone told me to make the backgrounds relevant to MTV. Easily done. So my backgrounds are going to relate to different MTV shows. Examples: bar, concert, party, beach, baby's room, etc. I'm not a pro at animating so I'm going to try and stick to the only style I know how to do in illustrator and make it look cohesive. I'm going to try and stick to similar color schemes in each environment. I still have to figure out what I want to be on the tv screen. Might just stick with slogan.

I've been struggling on this project. I think my largest problem was the fact that I didn't know what I had done wrong on my first idea or what in fact it was that I was supposed to be doing. So I had no idea where to start. I think I understand better now. I've been watching mtv to get more ideas. They call themselves music television however they barely ever have anything to do with music on, so I wanted to make the MTV logo in to a boombox, make it jump around a little and then have a voice come on or text pop up asking where the music is. So the entirety of the piece is to represent music and just like the "I want my MTV back" it also means "I want my music back".

MTV

While watching MTV I saw lots of colors. They work their typography to fit their brand. There was lots of bright colors. That's what stuck out to me the most, bright yellows, magentas, etc, and of course black and white. They have a more modern appeal and you can definitely tell they're talking to a younger crowd, teens and twenties. Visually there seems to be constantly something going on. Even during the shows that you're supposed to be watching, there are pop ups that come across the bottom and off to the side advertising for other shows that come on later.
